What is Martial Arts Training?
The answer to that question depends on who you ask. To some it's a
"secret and violent" way of life, as depicted in today's movies. To others it is a
"sport" in which your success and self-worth are measured in trophies and ribbons.
Real martial arts training is about changing yourself....Physically - Mentally - Emotionally At River Cities Martial Arts we use modern training techniques and methods coupled with traditional values to improve the whole person. Our classes are designed to help the student improve in all aspects of life, by building confidence and self-worth through challenging work-outs and setting attainable goals.
A child armed with confidence and self-respect will be better able to make the right choices in school as well as in life. An adult with self-control and better balance in their physical and mental being can accomplish anything.
School Philosophy
The founding members of our school have a combined total of over
50 years experience in the martial arts. During that time we have seen the martial arts community go through a number of changes,
some good - some bad. Most of the area schools have become too commercial and a lot have become what is refered to in the martial arts as
"belt mills", this is unfortunate because they have gotten away from what the
"Martial Way" is meant to be. They measure their success by the
"number" of black belts they produce, rather than the
"quality" of them.
Martial Arts training when done correctly is about improving the whole person, not just physically, but emotionally as well. Instilling confidence and self-esteem in a person is just as important as teaching them how to kick and punch. Our philosophy:
